Built on Experience, Driven by Integrity

Mountain Excavating LLC was founded to provide reliable, high-quality excavation services for the people and properties of Western North Carolina. We are a small, owner-operated business based in Pisgah Forest, delivering personalized service, expert craftsmanship, and lasting results.

Whether it’s a challenging slope, heavily wooded lot, or hard-to-reach job site, we’re prepared with the equipment and know-how to get it done right — the first time.

Our Story

Mountain Excavating LLC was established by Pat Landreth, a hands-on professional with over two decades of excavation and land service experience in the local area. What started as a small operation focused on grading and clearing has grown into a full-service excavation company offering everything from trenching and demolition to driveway installation, boulder wall construction, and land management.

Pat leads every job personally. That means the person you talk to on the phone is the same one reviewing your land, quoting the job, and operating the equipment. We don’t pass your project off to subcontractors or shift accountability. You get personal service from start to finish.

What We Stand For

At Mountain Excavating LLC, our work is guided by a commitment to:

  • Honesty in every estimate and conversation

  • Reliability in showing up and delivering on our word

  • Respect for your time, property, and project goals

  • Safety for our team, our clients, and the surrounding environment

  • Long-term results that protect your investment and land value

We believe that good work should speak for itself. That’s why we focus on quality, not shortcuts.

 Our Capabilities

We operate a range of heavy-duty machinery designed for mountain terrain, tight access, and rural land. This includes excavators, bulldozers, track loaders, trenchers, and skid steers. Every piece of equipment is owned, maintained, and operated by our team — no rentals or unknown operators.

No matter the project type, we approach each job with the same professionalism and attention to detail.

Owner-Operated Means Personalized Service

One of the things that sets us apart is that we are not a big, multi-crew operation. We're a dedicated small team that takes ownership of every single job. That means better communication, fewer mistakes, and results that meet your expectations — not just the minimum requirements.

When you call Mountain Excavating LLC, you’re speaking directly with the person responsible for your project. We make sure your concerns are addressed, your site is respected, and your job is completed with care.

Our Reputation

Mountain Excavating LLC maintains an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. While we do not have a large number of online reviews, we encourage clients to request direct references. We believe in transparency — and we're proud of the work we do.

If we ever fall short, we make it right. That's our guarantee.
